There are just so many details that goes into planning a wedding, many couples don’t know where to begin or stay on track. The easy part couples encounter are the basics such as choosing colors, themes, and locations, but have little to no knowledge on how extensive the planning may be. Weddings are costly and most vendors would offer brides and grooms the highest rates possible. Great Question. First I must mention, we do not get paid any commissions from our vendors. Therefore, we do not double dip if you understand what I mean. The only aid we get from our vendors is relationship to best suit the bride and groom’s budget. However, there are four ways Everything Bridal and Events earn our income.

1. A percentage of total wedding budget. Depending on size and scope of wedding, typically the percent is 15-20. If the wedding budget is $10,000, 15% would be $1,500.

2. Calculated Hours. The going rate for calculated hours depending on your state ranges from $60-100 per hour. Everything Bridal and Events are the lowest in the tri-state are of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York. Our hourly rate is $25.

For this cause, locally, we schedule 8 weddings per month on weekends one being on Saturday, and the other on Sunday. However, Sunday weddings are rare for us. Since the week before weddings are usually extremely busy for all parties involved, we choose not to work others during that time but that doesn’t exclude us from honoring prior contracts before yours.

We can cover any party size from 2 people to over thousands. To date, the largest was a 50th Birthday Party with over 200 people in attendance.

Light in the Box Partial Review

Image

Ok, Where do I begin? First, its website is really professional and easy to navigate. I didn’t have any problems with finding the perfect ball gown for a Hollywood Night themed Sweet 16 Party. What impressed me most was the extremely affordable prices for such beautiful gowns I’ve ever seen. Literally it was like a kid in a candy store for me. The second most impressive for me, they are stationed in China and deliver anywhere around the world. You can find almost anything from wedding attire to electronics top quality guaranteed. The dress I selected original price was $285 with 65% off came down to $98.99. That’s right $98.99. Just when I couldn’t get any lower, I found a coupon code online that took off an additional $12. You wouldn’t believe this dress was already inexpensive at its original price. I will show you the dress soon.

About Customer Service.

I had a ton of questions mainly about the product itself. Light in the Box has live chat located in the upper right hand side of computer screen. However, I didn’t use it at first because page itself was loaded with information with review and Q&A sections. Before I got down that far, pretty much all my questions were answered. The only question I had was could my dress have a corset back instead of zip-up. I had to use the live chat for that. Unfortunately they couldn’t. I was fine with that because the dress is absolutely beautiful. To add, live chat representative was very pleasant, patient, and courteous. There was no negative feedback I could give. The real big plus, I didn’t have to wait long to chat with someone. I waited no longer than a minute.

Once purchase is made, you can now place tickets on your order. Tickets are communications between yourself and Light in the Box. Its like having email on their site. I placed a ticket just for blogging and my own personal information purposes. The website says they will respond to all tickets within 24 hours, so far its true. I currently have two tickets to introduce myself and updates on the process of my dress. Right now, the first ticket was marked resolved. The second ticket was them reaching out to me because my measurements were incorrect as far as hollow to floor. That was my fault. I didn’t subtract and leave the difference between hollow to floor from my height. I was grateful they reached out to me. I then opened another chat which I didn’t have to wait long for again. The representative and I discussed how to correct my measurement and help me implement steps towards processing again. That happened this morning. Currently waiting reply. Needless to say, for this company to be in China, the communication is open and on point.

Here are two tips:

  • My order date was March 12, 2014 with estimated shipping date of April 6, 2014. Order as early as possible if you want it to arrive on time. My event isn’t until July, so I am good with the estimated shipping date. I’ve read reviews and watched them also on youtube, many say they have received their products within two weeks. Not bad. My dress would have reached my doorstep within that time if there wasn’t a problem with measurements. The beauty, they were ready to refund my money if we couldn’t come together in agreement for the purchase.
  • Make sure your measurements are correct so the process wouldn’t be delayed. If you do not know how to measure yourself, have a friend or tailor do it for you. Wear tight clothing to get accurate measurements. Keep in mind also, United States dress sizes are different in China. If you are a size 22w in United States, China is 26w. However some charts says 27. The website has a size chart there so it should be easy for you to decide. Its best to get measured and send them in. The downsize, they charge $19 for custom measurements. That’s not a biggie though considering the dress is already discounted enough.

Considering its a Hollywood Themed Party, I decided to get this dress because it resembles what Audrey Hepburn wore the day she won the Oscar for Best Actress in Roman Holiday 1954. This style of dress was a combination of my personal taste. I love tulle, lace, and beads. I knew getting a complete replica of her dress wasn’t in my cards. This beautiful elegant A-line Jewel Ankle-length gown was perfect for me.

Image

Roman Holiday is a 1953 romantic comedy directed and produced by William Wyler. It stars Gregory Peck as a reporter and Audrey Hepburn as a royal princess out to see Rome on her own. Hepburn won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance; the screenplay and costume design also won. Wikipedia.

So there….My partial review of Light in the Box. I haven’t received my dress yet to give it a complete review. Stay tuned for second part when I get it. I hope this review has helped someone make an intellectual decision on purchasing anything from http://www.lightinthebox.com. Happy Shopping.

Finding The Right Wedding Dress

Image

First Things First

With all the planning for the wedding day, finding the perfect dress should be the best part. It should be less stress as well. Every woman wants to look absolutely beautiful for that special day. She is the princess and should enjoy every moment of her day without feeling less than that because of the dress.

Some full figured women will go on a crash diet just to look good in the dress. I say that is all good if she is doing it for health reasons. Other women would loose the weight just to get the dress at a lessor price. I say why starve yourself when there are always possibilities of getting the dress on sale.

Never look for a wedding dress no more that 6 months prior to the wedding date. I tell you why. The further away, the more expensive the dress will cost. Lets say the wedding is in June. You wouldn’t want to purchase the dress say in September (the previous year) because that month is popular for weddings as well. September starts the fall collection so naturally every dress is at regular sales price. The average price for a dress during the fall season ranges between $1,000.00-$3,000.00. The best time to purchase a wedding dress is in January because the stores has to get rid of the last year’s inventory. You will see a tone of reductions in January.

Another reason never to purchase a wedding dress too early is the cost for alterations. Lets say that the dress was tried on in the first week of December. That is right after the Thanksgiving festivities where most Americans are still munching on the leftovers including the deserts. That is the time of the year where the body is not at its normal weight. When the dress is tried on, it may fit according to the weight of that day. It may even feel perfect and is loved so much that the dress is purchase that very day.

This could be bad because because the extra weight put on over the holidays will not be there in June. We must remember that Spring is right around the corner and more outdoor activities will aid in loosing weight. It is proven that when the weather is warmer, people tend to begin diets and work out routines just to get ready for the summer. Therefore the cost for alterations would drastically increase depending on how many inches were taken off of the dress.

Now if the bride bought her dress in December and lets say she got pregnant or gained weight. There is no way possible the dress that was purchased at size 10 can be increased to a size 16. The only suggestion I can make is simply returning the dress and exchanging it for one of equal or lesser value. Chances are, the new dress would be more in cost and the old dress charges would be applied to it. This is costly because if the dress cost $700.00 in December and the new dress cost $1,200.00 in June, an additional $500.00 is spent. That extra $500.00 can go towards something else for the wedding such as a DJ for 4 hours.

Themed Weddings

Image

Every wedding I’ve been to had a specific theme. The dress should match the theme. If it is a beach wedding a dress with a Cathedral Train isn’t recommended. However, a chapel train will due because it would’t cost too much to have it cleaned. Remember, there is a lot of sand on the beach which the little grains gets caught in the netting of the train. It will come in contact with some form of moisture rather it is steam or an actual washing machine. The sand will become mud and mud stains the dress forever.

Book your Destination Atlantic City Wedding Package with Everything Bridal and Events today.

If a train is to be worn, as stated above, chapel length would be more appropriate for beach weddings Not to mention, I’ve seen brides with the Cathedral train have such difficulties walking on the sand while carrying their train in their hand. Imagin walking on the sand in swimwear, its still hard to do because its sand. Now add about 1.5-4 extra pounds of clothing including shoes. The bride would be tired and frustrated before even reaching the altar.

At any rate, little to no train is by far easier to manage. The bride can walk with ease and wouldn’t have to worry so much for dry cleaning charges. Its is already expensive enough to have the dress preserved. Some dry cleaners wouldn’t pay for any mistakes they make when caring for the dress. I highly recommend paying the extra bucks for the preservation from the company the dressed was purchased. If the company doesn’t offer the preservation, purchase the dress from somewhere that does. If the wedding is on the beach, the dress will need to be preserved.

Winter Weddings

Image

These has to be very beautiful. A wedding planner may use simple Christmas or Valentines decorations to set the scene for beautiful wedding day, but what about the bride? Bridal gowns these days are sleeveless leaving the bride with the chills due to the winter weather conditions. However, there are solutions to this. There are many ways to get around this.

 Image

  • Get a dress that has sleeves. If the dress doesn’t have them, places like David’s Bridal can put beautiful sleeves on the dress for about $100.00 more.
  • Get a formal white wedding coat to match the dress along with the accessories. I find the white furry coats with the hoods looks so dreamy and adds extra elegance to an already beautiful dress.
  • Get a Cathedral veil and elbow length white satin gloves. Not only is this method warm but sophisticated as well.

Image

Spring Weddings

Image

Spring is another beautiful time of the year for weddings. There are a variety of things that can be done to make a Spring wedding a blessed event. The bridal gown can be long or short, sleeve or sleeveless, with or without coat. Spring has more flexibility as with summer. The truth of the matter, winter weather still has its way of lingering into spring. At least it does for New Jersey. One spring, it snowed at the end of April and some in the middle of May. Also, it rain often in the spring, therefore the dress should be selected to withstand the weather.

Summer Weddings

Image

Laced Sleeves are whats trending for Summer 2014 all due to this generations most beautiful bride ever, Kate Middleton. I am glad she brought these back on the market because Christian women were concerned with the sleeveless wedding dresses that flooded every bridal shop in the world. Elegant laced sleeved dresses are also perfect for destinations, church, beach, golf course, and even back yard weddings. This type of dress is perfect for all venues and themes.

Beautiful Wedding Dresses For Full Figured Women

Image

I know Fall wedding dresses were skipped. That’s because any of the dresses above can be worn during that time of the year as well. my only suggestion is, color. Many say its not fashionable for a woman to wear white after Labor Day, one shade darker like egg shell, bone, or ivory are perfect for the fall. Every bride shouldn’t clash colors with the rest of bridal party attire. She must be easy on the eyes coordinating perfectly with fall colors. Believe it or not, fall wedding gowns falls perfectly with full figured women’s color preferences. I personally surveyed over 300 full figured women over the course of 5 years, not purposely, but fact finding to aid them in their wedding dress selections. To my surprise, without asking, many of full figured women I’ve worked with, got married in fall and selected  softer shades of white mentioned above.

Image

I am a full figured woman and finding a dress was as easy as if I were not. Stores like David’s Bridal offers dresses in plus size as well for about $100.00-$200.00 more. There is a better chance that the dress in plus size are on sale than others. I am renewing my vows and having another wedding ceremony and my dress finally went on sale. When I went to try it on, I immediately fell in love with that dress and made my purchase.

Image

The best thing about being in a plus size dress is what can be done to it after the wedding. I plan to save my dresses for my two daughters. If they can not fit them because they are smaller than the dress size, I can always take it in. Full figured women are always looking for beautiful wedding gowns. Putting the dress on Ebay is another wonderful profitable idea. The dress may earn more that what was initially spent. Never know, I placed a few bids on Ebay for a gown and was out bid. Also Amazon has some really beautiful wedding gowns. Many brides shop here for their gowns are gave positive feedback to the sellers. The best about both Ebay and Amazon, they offer factory pressed gowns at a MUCH affordable rate.

I’ve seen the same dress in local bridal boutiques for over $700.00 in regular size, in plus was $900.00. To my surprise I looked on the web and found that dress for $199.99. I thought that was a steal. Another wonderful idea is to buy the dress online. You will get it for by far less than the actual store because its coming from the warehouse. Online completely cut out the middle man that charges an arm, leg, and back for plus size wedding dresses.

Most full figured women opt not to go sleeveless which is great because some has D cups plus. They feel more comfortable with support opposed to looks. Having a strapless bra-girdle that shapes the torso will give that support. No matter how high she jumps or how low she bends, her breast will never get exposed. I speak from experience. The dress that I am wearing for my ceremony is sleeveless. I’ve done everything from picking up a penny off the found to reaching up on the rack to pick out shoes and my breast stayed snugged in my dress. I’ll tell you a secret.Buy the bra-girdle in a smaller size .

Top 10 Stress Relievers Every Bride Should Know

After planning weddings, including my own, I found some areas a bride undergoes the most stress. There are just so many intricate details in planning a wedding, brides always find themselves completely overwhelmed by the process. Nothing can be more stressful than the many DIY brides trying to do it all alone. For this reason, Everything Bridal and Events has composed our “Top Ten Stress Relievers Every Bride Should Know” before attempting the planning process.

1) Hire a Wedding Consultant. This is the greatest stress reliever of them all. Its a wedding consultants job to take all the stress out of the planning. They are professionals with a plethora of information and vendors that works with all themes and budgets. Experienced wedding consultants act as expedites between bride and groom and vendors ensuring every detail is perfect executed within designated time periods. Utilize your wedding consultant expertise because they do advise and counsel in the right direction for weddings, receptions, and honeymoon concerns.

2) Hire a Day Of Coordinator. Most if not every wedding consultant is also a day of coordinator. Its best to request day of coordinators to oversee your special day. Its best to stay with your wedding consultant through the entire wedding planning. Since they have all your information and been planning every detail, the wedding consultant knows exactly how the special day is to be. Please note…Planning a wedding without a consultant is every bride’s nightmare. They solicit help from family and friends with multiple opinions that could be more frustrating rather than helpful. Some may not be professionals or experienced which causes more confusion leaving the bride anxious to just get the wedding over with instead of enjoying the planning process.  You’ll find out it would become their wedding not yours. Its good for them to help with minor details but leave the majors to the professionals.

For More Information, Contact Us For All Your Bridal Needs

3) Plan At Least One Year In Advance. No one likes a rush, thrown together, quick, fast, and in a hurry wedding unless its an elopement. A wedding consultant can pull it off, but that leaves no wiggle room for last minute unfortunate circumstances. To add, all deposits or full payments are requested upon demand. The earlier gives everyone involved plenty of time to make preparations. You would want every detail to be perfect leaving no stone unturned.

4) Pick A Date Within Season. Typically wedding season is between April and September. These are months wedding vendors expect to be employed and would rather have your business. They usually thrive best through those months because updated information such as latest trends offers top quality service. Ideas are unlimited in spring and summer. This is also the great time of the year for all wedding guest to travel. Usually, if family and friends visited over the thanksgiving-new year, they look for a great reason to return. If kids and teens are in the wedding party, members of out of town guest, or wedding party family, spring break is perfect to have a wedding. They won’t even miss school. Same for summer.

4) Plan A Realistic Budget. Today’s weddings are not as inexpensive as they were about 20 years ago. The cost of living and everything has gone up. Recession has hit many Americans forcing couples to save as much as they can. With that being said, many companies has come down on their products and services without going into debt themselves. Most love competition and will match an opponents price on many items. You should expect to have an extra 5,000.00 on hand in case of emergency. A very low end wedding with a party of 100 people guest list runs between $8,000-12,000.  On average, US couples spend $25,656 for their wedding. However, the majority of couples spend between $19,242 and $32,070. This does not include cost for a honeymoon. These numbers can be shaved about a few thousands depending on the specifics.

5) Bridal Gown Shopping. This would probably be the easiest of them all. Every woman has visioned at one point of time the type of wedding gown she would wear. Online has made that decision much better to make. Your wedding consultant has connections with all kinds of bridal boutiques and shops that would be perfect for every bride’s budget. As soon as the proposal is done, start looking for wedding gown. This allows time for alterations, fittings and payments on schedule. ..

6) Who To Invite? Although our eyes get bigger than our stomachs with this one, its great inviting as many guest as possible, keep in mind, its estimated 25-30% will regretfully decline. However, that doesn’t mean invite the girl from junior high school you haven’t seen in 10 years. The guest list should be all those you know wish you well and have nothing but blessed intentions for your special day. If there are family members who can not get along, and you can’t decide between them, invite both. You can avoid confrontations by seating arrangements. Chances are, when one finds out the other is coming, they may not show up. However, at least it was made known they were invited. Don’t forget about Uncle Bob who can not hold his alcohol. You know he gets violent so its best not to invite or only serve champagne for toast. Discuss with your wedding consultant about your guest list. They have no relationship with your guest and can give sound advice.

7) Chicken, Beef, Seafood, Or Vegetarian? Believe it or not, this is one of the many stress encounters of the bride. It can be difficult knowing the diet of every single guest. If budget allows, choose each and let the guest decide what they want. Every reception venue will ask each guest their preference if its a seated entree. Plated could cost a little more than buffet. The best about buffet you get more food for your dollars.

8) Hotel Accommodation For Out Of Town Guest. If they don’t have family they could bunk with, suggest hotels close to wedding and reception location. Always include driving directions and price in a note enclosed with wedding invitation. All hotels offers group rates if you block off a certain number of rooms. For this cause, discounts would apply. Have your guest share a room and cost. Don’t forget, some may not have transportation to get from hotel to wedding and reception. Try keeping the locations within walking distance, in the same building, or arrange for transportation. Be very considerate. After all, they came from afar and already spent much time and money to cherish your day. Save up to 50% with our hotel deal of the day!

9) Designate Tasks To Wedding Party. Engagement, bridal shower, and bachelor parties are given by them. They would automatically pitch in and host them. Don’t expect them to, they may not. Its not their job to be servants, please don’t treat them as such. They are happy that you asked them to participate in your wedding and they want to make it perfect. But it could go very bad if they feel mistreated in anyway. Ask them for their ideas and always be considerate of what they present. Don’t expect them to be bankers. They already have to pay other expenses. However, do accept whatever gifts they could offer as long as its within theme. What you can assign are small tasks. When in doubt always seek your wedding consultant for details. Bridal Party Duties

10) Organize Relax Days As much As Possible. Having relax days are very important because planning a wedding is hard work. Plan at least two days per month to do something you enjoy doing. Schedule movie night with the girls. Spend time with parents and grandparents for breakfast or lunch dates. Date nights with your fiance should be plentiful. Have a sleep over party with bridesmaids and flower girls. Let your hair down. Never forget to relax after each wedding goal is reached.

BUT weddings are my favorite because I love seeing people in love express it in this ceremonious way. I don’t know who cries the most, the mother, bride, or me…hahahahahahahhaha….I do take pride in my work by paying attention to the persons of the Bride and Groom. My insight to details is a gift from God that makes every event perfect as the couple want it to be. I am not afraid to use wild weird colors or themes and am always open for all possibilities. However, since I am a clergy of the Lord’s church, I am not bound by law or the church to plan any civil unions or same sex marriages. The conviction of the Lord Jesus Christ will not allow me to participate in those at all. My job is to make every natural Bride and Groom’s dream wedding into a cherished lifetime reality.
